That middle-of-travel interruption is almost always one of two things. A fault that repeats at an identical position is a physical one. Watch a full cycle and mark where it halts. Then look at what is beside the gate at that exact point.

Gravel that has migrated into the swing path, a paver that has lifted, a root that has grown, or a fence panel that has leaned in over a season are all things that were not there when the gate was commissioned. A gate does not need to strike an object to stop, only to sense one.

There is a second version of this that catches people out. Some operators learn the travel limits during setup and remember them, so a gate that has physically shifted can start stopping at a position the board still believes is correct.
